What is Gaganyaan?

Gaganyaan is an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft intended to be the formative spacecraft of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme. The spacecraft is being designed to carry three people, and a planned upgraded version will be equipped with rendezvous and docking capability.

First time India is going to launch such type of mission. This will restore the loss of chandrayaan 2, unfortunately, chandrayaan 2 was a little bit of failure for ISRO but this time ISRO is in full mood to send humans into space

A laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and a relatively recent Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) centre have come together to conduct special tests for India’s landmark Gaganyaan mission.

Gaganyaan will help in the enhancement of science and technology levels in the country and help inspire youth

What is inside Gaganyaan?

Gaganyaan Parts are manufactured by HAL.
Gaganyaan crew module is a fully free spacecraft designed to carry a 3-member crew to orbit and safely return to the Earth after a mission duration of up to seven days. Its services module is powered by liquid propellant engines. The crew module is mated to the service module, and together they constitute an orbital module. The space capsule will have life support and environmental control systems. It will be equipped with emergency mission abort and emergency escape that can be done at the first stage or second stage of the rocket burn. The nose of the original version of the orbital vehicle was free for a docking mechanism, but primary entry was evidently through a side hatch secured by explosive bolts.

 Key people behind Gaganyaan:

Director of Gaganyaan Mission.

V.R Lalithambika (Rocket woman of India)

K.Sivan ( Chairman: INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION) ISRO

K Sivan, the new ISRO chief, has contributed to multiple programmes including the development of PSLV called the workhorse of ISROand contributed towards mission planning, mission design, mission integration and analysis.

CREW members:

4 (IAF)Indian Airforce pilots have been selected for the Gaganyaan mission, It was said By k.Sivan  In 2020.

All crew member will be trained in Russia at the space agency which will train them in all aspects of a manned mission in outer space, providing them with the space atmosphere will help them a lot in real space.

The objective of mission:  Major objectives are to promote space sciences and find how we will think about our future In space, maybe in future improvement of science and technology levels in the country. A national project involving various institutes, academia, and industry. Enhancement of Industrial growth.

Many countries have contributed to India's Gaganyaan mission like Russia, U.S, France.

Note: The mission was supposed to launch in 2022 but it delayed to 2023.
